Sabre Teams with Impulsity to Deliver New Wireless Airport Check-in Capability FORT WORTH, TX, Wednesday, October 18, 2000
- Sabre Holdings Corporation (NYSE: TSG) and Impulsity today announced
that the companies have signed a letter of intent to deliver the travel
industry's first wireless check-in and boarding capability. With this
new capability travelers using wireless device, such as a cell phone or
a personal digital assistant (PDA) will have a convenient alternative
to standing in lines at the airport. "Sabre is committed to providing the travel industry with innovative solutions to the issues faced by travelers and travel providers everyday. We know that passenger volumes will continue to increase, further impacting airports that are already faced with space constraints," said Joe Saliba, acting president of Outsourcing and Software Solutions for Sabre. "To effectively deal with these issues, airlines and airports will need to identify alternative methods for processing passengers. One of those solutions will be to allow passengers to conduct a remote, but secure, flight check-in process."
