Siemens Business Services GmbH & Co. OHG, Division Transportation to Distribute Aeritas' Nonstop Mobile Check-In and Boarding Service, the First M-Commerce Travel Solution of Its Kind To Be Offered in Europe

FRANKFURT, GERMANY, and IRVING, TEXAS - March 1, 2001 - Officials of Siemens Business Services (SBS), Division Transportation, today announced a strategic partnership and distribution alliance with Aeritas, Inc., a leading innovator of mobile commerce technology based in the U.S.

Located in Frankfurt, Germany, SBS will deliver the Aeritas nonstop mobile check-in and boarding service, the first m-commerce travel solution of its kind, to its customers in the European travel industry.

The non-stop mobile check-in and boarding service, which is powered by Aeritas' patent-pending technology, enables airline passengers to check-in to a flight and receive an electronic boarding pass using a web-enabled telephone or PDA. The barcode-based boarding pass, which is displayed directly on the mobile device, can then be scanned at the gate using the airline's existing equipment. This convenient and user-friendly m-commerce solution eliminates the need for customers to wait in long lines at a check-in counter or a kiosk, a common complaint of today's busy, on-the-go traveler.
